The Elgin Experience Monthly Movie Meeting for January 12, 2010

The monthly movie meeting is on Tuesday January 12, 2010 - Marcus Theatre 111 S. Randall Road Elgin, IL

Doors open at 9:15 AM - Meeting begins at 10:00 AM

Our presentation will focus on starting the New Year with The Elgin Experience - Featuring our FIRST extended 8 day trip to Myrtle Beach on March 13th.

We will be collecting donation items of canned goods and paper products for Community Crisis Center.

Membership is NOT required to attend, so please bring a friend along and enjoy a cup of coffee, donut and the chance to be one of our several door prize winners.  The cost is $2.00 per person.

The movies we will be offering this month are:

1.  It’s Complicated

  • Rated: R for some drug content and sexuality
  • Runtime: 1 hr 58 min
  • Genre: Comedy & Romance
  • Cast: Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, John Krasinski, Lake Bell

Jane is the mother of three grown kids, owns a thriving Santa Barbara bakery/restaurant and has - after a decade of divorce - an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake.  But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son’s college graduation, things start to get complicated.  An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable - an affair.  With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness, Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.  Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam, an architect hired to  remodel Jane’s kitchen.  Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he’s become part of a love triangle.  Should Jane and Jake move on with their lives, or is love truly lovelier the second time around? It’s –complicated.

2.  Up In The Air

3.  Sherlock Holmes

  • Rated: PG-13 for thematic material including violence, disturbing images and a scene of suggestive material

  • Genre: Action/Adventure, Thriller, Adaptation & Mystery
  • Cast: Robert Downey Jr. Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, Eddie Marsan

Robert Downey Jr. brings the legendary detective to life as he has never been portrayed before.  Jude Law stars as Holmes’ trusted colleague, Watson, a doctor and war veteran who is a formidable ally for Sherlock Holmes, Rachel McAdams stars as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have bested Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective.  Mark Strong stars as their mysterious new adversary, Blackwood.

4.  Viva Las Vegas - Our Classic 1964 Film this month in honor of Elvis’ birthday
